ATLANTA—May 1, 2007—Recognizing the need for tools necessary to succeed in a difficult regulatory environment, the home medical equipment industry turned out in full force to Medtrade Spring 2007. Medtrade Spring 2007 was held April 24 - 26 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The conference and expo drew over 7000 home medical equipment providers, manufacturers and home health care professionals.
“The Medtrade Education Planning Committee recognizes the HME industry is facing challenging times… providers are caught in a ‘perfect storm,’” said Jeffrey Baird, a health care attorney with Brown and Fortunato in Amarillo, Texas. “With this in mind, the committee put in many hours to come up with the best speakers and the best programs for the Medtrade Spring attendees. We received positive feedback regarding the quality of the education programs.”
At Medtrade Spring 2007, attendees had access to over 470 exhibiting companies showcasing over 100,000 square feet of products and services from mobility and respiratory equipment to billing systems and retail store display solutions.
“With all the significant changes in reimbursement affecting home medical equipment businesses, it is important for our industry to utilize the opportunities offered by Medtrade Spring for education and networking,” said Carl Will, group vice president, HME Group, Invacare Corp., Elyria, Ohio.
Medtrade Spring's New Product Pavilion showcased many of the newest products offered at the event. Winners of the New Product Pavilion awards, based on attendee votes, include:
- Respironics, Murrysville, Pa. received the Innovation Award
- SuperQuad, Roseville, Calif., received the Providers Choice Award International
- Hanmedics, Republic of Korea, received the Merit Award
“Although I have attended Medtrade and Medtrade Spring since 1995, this is my first show as a provider. From this perspective, I saw exciting opportunities for the future in our business. Many of the exhibitors presented products and services that help us work smarter,” said Richard Davis, director of human resources for Barnes Healthcare Services in Valdosta, Ga. “Coming to Medtrade Spring helps providers see that technology is available to help us run more efficient operations. It was encouraging to see so many companies who made the commitment to exhibit in light of so many uncertainties in the industry.”
Future industry events include Medtrade 2007, which will take place October 2 – 4 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, and Medtrade Spring 2008, which will be held May 7 – 8, 2008, in Long Beach, Calif. For more information, please visit www.medtrade.com or call (800) 933-8735.
