The Wijit on a Wheelchair
Features Overview

The Wijit’s revolutionary design introduces a host of features. Each feature of the Wijit is specifically designed to help wheelchair users meet their needs, while providing tremendous health and safety benefits in the process. The following list provides quick links to each of the features, with pictures and descriptions of what they are and how they help:

The Driver Lever
The Wijit Tetra driver lever. The lever is the “powerhouse” of the Wijit system. The Wijit amplifies the user’s pushing power for: climbing hills, going over obstacles, thick carpeting, and getting around with greater ease everyday. The lever also provides leverage to apply unprecedented power to its built-in brakes. By only requiring the lever for pushing the chair forward and applying the brakes, the user’s hands stay comfortably on its handles at all times.

Built-In Braking System

Applying the brakes on the Wijit is as simple as pulling inward on the Wijit’s lever handles. The combination of the leverage from its levers, together with the disc brake system, allows users to have a fine degree of steering control, with the power to stop immediately. The beauty of the braking system is that the user’s hands are safe on the handles at all times.
Shifter Knob
Wijit Tetra shifter and handle. The Wijit provides users with three modes of wheel engagement: forward, neutral, and reverse. The shifter is located at the top of the handle on the Wijit. By turning the position of the shifter, the Wijit user can easily switch between modes (see our "How Does it Work?" section for details). The neutral position disengages the lever, allowing a “free-wheeling” mode. In the reverse position, the Wijit user is able to pull back on the handles to move their chair backwards with ease and control.
Quick Release Wheel Removal

The Wijit incorporates a simple to use quick-release wheel removal system that allows users to remove the whole wheel assembly in two easy steps (see our "How Does it Work?" section for details). With the quick-release wheel removal system, users are able to remove the wheels and allow for easy transport of the wheelchair.

Advanced Ergonomic Wheel Design
Angled partial view of Wijit Tetra wheel and driver.Maneuverability in areas with limited space and the ability to fit through doorways is a must for all wheelchair users. To meet this need, the Wijit uses a specially-designed wheel that reduces the wheel’s width, while still providing the structural strength of the wheelchair’s original wheels. Based on measurements taken from different compatible wheelchairs, it has been determined that adding the whole Wijit system adds only up to one inch to the overall width of the wheelchair.

Shifter Paddle Options
One inch paddle shifter pictured with part of handle.Designed for Wijit users with diminished hand function, the shifter paddles enable the user to switch driver modes without requiring grip by pushing on the paddle using their hand or forearm. For some users, it is easier to use the hand or forearm from one side of the body to shift drive modes in the opposite side. The shifter paddles are installed by SuperQuad or an authorized dealer and come in lengths of 1" or 2".
